Wanna Be Loved

I've been afraid, and I've been alone
Sometimes I need someone to pick up the phone
I'm tired of the leavin'
I need a home

I just wanna be loved
Can you tell me I'm worthy or important
Am I workin' hard enough?
I just wanna be loved

And I want someone to want me
I want somebody there
And I need someone to need me
I need someone who cares

Reason or Rhyme

Why must you shed such tender tears
In the evening of your years?
No other love could stem the tide
Of the loneliness I hide.
Open your heart and let me live!

No reason or rhyme, by chance or design...
Just a dance to the music of time.

Ticket to the Moon

Remember the good old 1980s? When things were so uncomplicated?
I wish I could go back there again, and everything could be the same.

I've got a ticket to the Moon. I'll be leaving here any day soon.
I've got a ticket to the Moon, but I'd rather see the sunrise in your eyes.

Got a ticket to the Moon. I'll be rising high above the Earth so soon.
And the tears I cry might turn into the rain that gently falls upon your window.  You'll never know.

buried by the blues

Absolved forever into the darkest shades,
I'll vanish from the light to the still-calling me
Enslaved forever or buried by the blues?
Wear your wounds like a soldier; and let your ghosts run loose

Exploding waves, you wish you could belong
A piper at the gates to steal you from the dawn
No suicide could ever change your fate
Fold your hands in reply beneath the trembling rain

Against the night, you will rise and set your body free
Frontier of light, you desire to let your body sleep
Away from the static and noise
Away from the bombs and the war

I Wanna Stay Home

When you need someone, and there's no one there
There is always the 9:00 train to take you out somewhere

I take the train in town, like I did for years
There is only seven more blocks; I could walk from here

It's only six o'clock when my day begins
There is always my alarm clock to wake me up again

When I realize the weight that's firmly on my shoulders
I just try and find the place I can take a walk on my blind side

When these memories fade in my ripe old age
Please remember, my dear...

I wanna stay home
I wanna stay home right here
I wanna stay home today
I wanna stay....

your life is a lie

Here's the deal -- open your eyes -- your life is a lie
Don't say a word.  I'll tell you why you're living a lie
Your life is a lie, but you deny you ever lied
Wondering why.  Barely alive
Count your friends on your hands.
Now look again -- they're not your friends
Hold your breath. Everyone left.  No surprise.  Living a lie....

Nobody wins.  Try not to cry.  You'll survive on your own

Lessons in life:  your life is a lie
Now there's no time wondering why
Where in the world is that girl who knows it's alright to live a life waiting to die?
Not knowing that your life is a lie
Wondering why nobody writes
Hollow inside.  Bitter delight.  Fire and ice.
Your life is a lie

taught myself how to grow old

Most of the time I got nothing to say
When I do it's nothing, and nobody's there to listen anyway
I know I'm probably better off this way
I just listen to the voices on the TV 'til I'm tired
My eyes grow heavy and I fade away

missing person

Home to sweet home, it just occurred to me
To be on my own in search of bitter treats.
I get so removed, but you never notice it
Step in my shoes; you'll see that I don't fit.

I walk home the wrong way
Hoping I'll go astray.
I'd like to be a missing person.

stranger

What is veiled now soon will be shown.
Come walk with me through the unknown.
